Champagne!

Here's us moments after I popped the question. Thanks to Eve for the cute pic!

I told my parents the good news over the phone - they sang us a song! Boris made the announcement to his family at his birthday dinner on Sunday - Everyone is very happy for us.

Thanks to our families and all of our friends for the love and good wishes! Now we've got to get busy with the planning...

He said yes!

A moonlit night - cross between scenario 2 and scenario 4 - a lot of laughing - and tears of joy on my part! Followed by bottle rockets and champagne!

Here's us biking, playing miniature golf, looking at waterfalls (in front of miniature golf) and playing beach games on our first day of being engaged -

Today we leave paradise for the real world. I hope we stay super Active!

calm, cool..

Having a great time! Loving the view - it's a private beach! Loving Boro! All is going according to plan.Waiting for night time...

To the Beach!

Boro and I went to a NJ sky hawks game by his house last weekend. Great seats and a beautiful night with Fireworks!

I hope we see more fireworks tomorrow - Off to the beach right now! My friend asked if I'm going to get down on one knee... I don't think I will, but I'll let you know!

Scenarios!

This weekend my friends helped me go through some proposal scenarios so that I can be totally prepared for whatever Boro might say!

Daffys!

Yesterday, I went in to the bargain store for millionaires thinking I might pick up a cute new swimsuit for the beach.

But The bikini bloomed into a high fashion proposal outfit complete with Hat (to mask my perfectly square haircut) and Shawl. I also got a sand-length, open-back black dress that ties around the neck.

This is a much more complicated ensemble than I usually wear - I went hog wild! Even my wedding dress (if all goes according to plan) is a no -frills hand me down that is short and to the point.

I hope he doesn't guess that something is up because of my outfit!

Louise!

Yikes! Almost derailed by a rock show on June 3.
I love rocking with Boro more than anything - but I must be very careful to separate Boro love from Band love.

Luckily - no more rock show - But my eyes have been opened. I must be flexible and zen! If I get too obsessed with my dream scenario, I don't leave room for other possibilities.

In my dream:

- I propose AT NIGHT Because I have an illegal FIREwork to light.

- I propose ON THE BEACH because we love taking long walks on the beach.

- He says Yes!

I really want him to say yes. I will try to roll with the punches re: the setting.

10 days!

I wrote this number called "Emergency Contact" for Boro awhile back. He loved it! I am also thinking about writing him a Will You Marry Me song. But I'm doing too much thinking and not enough writing - we're getting down to the wire!!

20/20

One wild night in late 2009, Boro went insane and ripped a twenty dollar bill in half after a rockshow. I - being a totally frugal gourmet - freaked out.

(I don't remember if the bill ripping made me bite down so hard on a piece of ice that I broke my tooth - or if the bill ripping/tooth breaking are two unrelated events that happened on the same night.)

But Boro said not to worry - with a little tape we could still use it. Maybe buy something together one day...

So I've been carrying it around ever since. Maybe June 3 will be the day!

Rings!

This morning, while sitting in my beautiful brooklyn yard admiring my new his and her engraved steel rings I thought -

Holy Smokes! My proposal date has to move to JUNE 3 because of beach front time restraints.

Boro loves the sea, so beach front proposal is the answer. Thursday June 3 we'll be on the beach with good friends - it should be just about perfect!

Babies 2!

Back in 2003, Boro and I entered the Gene Machine to find out what our future baby would look like -

We lucked out - Our girl turned out totally cute - even though her parents look a little possessed!

Boro Bora!

I won Great big in Atlantic City this weekend! I should probably take a few minutes to let my champagne dreams chill out before going crazy buying Boro fancy presents.

I'm going to bide my time by entering another contest. This one is the high rolling essay contest of my dreams- http://www.spaweek.com/wedlikeaceleb Thanks so much to Heather for sending it!

How could I lose? A honeymoon in Bora Bora? It's too perfect! It's got my name written all over it - I mean Boro's name. Plus, I'm feeling residually lucky from my stay at the 3 card poker table.

Tahiti here we come!

Babies!

One morning back in 2003 or 2004 when I was watching Evita, Boro got so mad because Madonna woke him up. JeeZ - Why does a guy gotta wake up to Evita?!

I like doing Everything with Boro, but some things freak him out - like Puppets and Evita. One of my goals is to not freak him out. As a reminder, that's how he comes up in my phone.

So this weekend I'm going to see the movie BABIES with my girlfriends - I've been wanting to see it forever. I also want to give Boro the opportunity to Not see it - Two goals met for the price of one movie ticket!

RBP

Boro and I get a lot of work done because we live so far apart. By the time Wednesday night rock band practice rolls around - our hearts have grown totally fond. True love makes the long trip to NJ seem even longer - I can't wait to Rock and Hang out with Boro!

OMG he's right there rocking right now!

Italy!

I love an essay style contest! My friend Eileen sent me this one -

http://www.lonelyplanet.com/competitions/discover_borders/

When Boro's family left the Soviet Union - they stayed in Italy for awhile before they came to the States. It would be so fun to win an Italian Honeymoon, so we could visit the land of his babyness.

Our rockband Hello, Boat is also writing a song about Marco Polo. It pretty much just goes: "Polo, polo, polo, polo, polo..." Maybe if we won a trip to Venice, we'd come up with better words!

Happy Mother's Day!

I am very happy to be following in my mother's footsteps. She proposed to my dad back in the 60's. Boro's mom proposed to Mr. Veysman back in 70's - What Hip ladies!

My mom and dad celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year. And the Veysmans are in Italy celebrating their anniversary today!

Here are my folks Feb 28, 1970 in wedding reception chic.

Boro was his Name O - Part 2

I am totally attached to the name katy cunningham. Saying my first and last names together is hard to resist - isn't it?

Katy veysman is also cute, but not as cute as kate veysman.

A dual name change? I just don't know if it's going to fly! I would like to have the same name as Boro though. Maybe we should choose an entirely new one. I'll have to think about this one for a while longer.

Here's where I'll go to change my name for free - if I change it at all (Pending June 6th answer) http://www.namethatbride.com/

Here's this link again from the super reasonable husband!

How Am I gonna Call ya?

The old Me lost a lot of stuff - Keys and Phones in particular. The new Me loves to keep track of my belongings - it's the BEST to know where everything is all the time.

Unfortunately, on Sunday I worked an 18 hour day, and My old self got a hold of my phone and left it in a taxi. Geesh.

Boro to the rescue! He tracked my phone down like a private I. Now, I can call him whenever.

Here's us on my phone at the new Yankee Stadium. Bore and I LOVE sports, Maybe I'll ask him to marry me via Yankee Fan Marquis - Or maybe I'll ask him over the phone that I have made a commitment to never lose again!

He won!

Boro and I had a great time rocking out on Friday night! lots of money was raised for www.thealmightytalbot.com AND Bore won the Raffle!

He got a $50 gift certificate to a fancy hair salon in midtown - and since he is hair-free, he gave his prize to me! This prize couldn't have come at a better time - my hair is in Lim-BO.

Hopefully he will love my new look!

I got one - part two!

I love the way Boro uses the word "Everything."

He says things like, "We can eat burritos, pinchos, everything" and "I'm going to go home and take a shower, a nap, everything" all the time. I love his "everything" in this postcard - sounds so fun!

I don't like to talk about ex boyfriends in my Boro blog, but I can't resist this once -

My one ex boyfriend would always say "or something" as in "I want to eat a burrito or something."

and Another ex would always say "or nothin" as in "I'm not going to take a shower or nothin."

Isn't Everything so much better than Something and Nothing? Boro is everything to me, and I can't wait to let him know!

My friend Erinn sent me this link http://www.weddingcontests.com/ - I hope I can win Everything for Boro!

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

I got one - part one!

I was having super moody feelings re: Boro's NJ Hide-A-way yesterday after a traffic nightmare that made me late for my J.O.B.

That is - until I got a sweet NJ post card in the mail from BV. He drew a little me and him on the boardwalk.

Now I can't wait to get back to the hide-a-way! I thought sending post cards was fun - Getting postcards makes my heart Soar -- over the beautiful hills of New Jersey.

Raffle!

Boro and I went on a super fun date to a VFW hall over the weekend with dancing, DJ Teen Angel and Prizes. I didn't win the cash prize or the gift basket - but I DID win this book. What a thrill when the MC read my ticket number - I screamed! Now this book is mine all mine - Wait a minute - now this book is Ours.

Set in Stone!

Just outside the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station stands an acoustic wonder zone. If you whisper into one marbled corner, the sound travels up the wall, over and down to the opposite corner. It's amazing!

When I demonstrate this trick to friends and visitors, I usually ask them simple questions like "can you hear me?" and "how many fingers am I holding up?" Their answers "yes" and "one" come back clear as a bell!

But what if I asked THE question? Geology was Boro's total Major. He might really appreciate being proposed to via stone!

Wax Off!

My brother in law sent me a link to this Turtle Wax Jingle writing contest. I hope that Boro and I can work at winning this contest Together!

http://www.hardshellfinish.com/HowToEnter.aspx

We love rocking out together - it would be so fun to also win $2,500 together!

Mengagement Rings

I am wild about the engagement ring that I got for Boro. I got it at the Salvation Army - where I get all my best stuff. Jewelry and clothes and furniture are so much more exciting when they are from the Past.

Unfortunately, I have been spending too much time gazing into Boris's big eyes - and not enough time gazing at his giant ring finger - It's as wide as the Baltic Sea! The ring I bought is two or three sizes too big for me, but I don't think it's Boro Size - I'm afraid it totally won't DO.

This ring jump started my heart when I saw it, and I've been carrying it around in my wallet in case the perfect proposal storm struck. I'm going to miss it.

I've hit my first proposition snafu - I've got to find a new ring with a past. fast!

House Warming!

It was Yard Sale city in NJ this weekend. I got Boro this super cute dog-lady salt shaker for his new kitchen. I LOVE salt. Hopefully BV will think of me every time he uses it.

$1.50 is practically free considering how stylish and practical it is! I feel like a winner every time I go to a yard sale.

Maybe next week, I'll win him a pepper grinder!

Westward!

Some nice lady took this picture of me and Boro on our way to his house in the wilderness.

I don't really like driving, but I hope I can win a Buick so that it takes less than 9 days to see my beloved.

http://contests.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi=1/XJ&zTi=1&sdn=contests&cdn=hobbies&tm=3&f=20&tt=11&bt=0&bts=0&st=23&zu=http%3A//www.cbs.com/primetime/the_good_wife/case_files/index.php%3Fsweeps%3D1

In the mean time, we've been loving the USPS. Love letters are the best! Maybe I should propose via post card!

Expo!

Last night I got to work aboard my very own mother ship - the NYC wedding expo! I didn't get to enter any of the sweet raffles, but I Did get to see how to be a savvy bride to be. The Expo Ladies knew just what to do: ask super specific questions of the wedding vendors and plan way ahead.

One of the Exposed was planning her wedding for April 2013 - SMOKES - I've got to get cooking! I hope I win this chocolate wedding calendar to help keep myself on track!

Locale

Bore and I spent a super romantic weekend at his super cute and rustic Jersey-chic hideaway house - aka his regular house! It got me thinking about wedding venues.

There is an on-site babbling brook at his place - a major plus for wedding vibes, feng shui, and fun! http://www.morrisfengshui.com/Feng_Shui_Info.html

But I Live in Brooklyn - and I LOVE it here. Plus - Brooklyn is the first place BV lived when he moved to the States. PLUS - the East River totally babbles!

Other places to consider: Kansas City, Chicago, Florida, Bermuda, Faroe Islands...

Luckily, When you're in love with Boro - there's romantic splendor everywhere you look!

I Won!

I won A free home security system! I don't think I tried to win it, but I still feel strangely proud.

My home doesn't need much securing because I don't really HAVE anything. And Bore's house is naturally secure because it is So Far Away.

I hope I can trade the security system in for steak knives which are multi purpose. My dad suggests wasp spray.

http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/crime/a/wasp_spray.htm

Boro Was His Name O - Part 1

I am naturally bossy which is not fun for certain people. One major bit of self betterment I'm working on is to not to influence other people's good intentions with my own idea of what their good intentions should be.

For instance, just because This Super Reasonable, Romantic Fellow took his wife's last name, doesn't mean that I should even bring UP the idea to BV -

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/facts-and-arguments/i-took-my-wifes-last-name/article1232071/

A kindness should be the kind person's intellectual property. I shouldn't suggest that BV buy me flowers, nor should I do Rockette kicks in his face until he says, "those are nice boots."

He is naturally nice enough and doesn't need my help. I appreciated it so much when he complimented me on my hair the other day (which unfortunately looks like a Big Rectangle). It was a compliment made of his free will from his big heart.

Still, I am going to try to win a free veil to cover it up.

http://www.weddingdressale.com/Specials-Win-a-Free-Veil-pg-36.html

Hopefully, he will also really like the veil. And I will try not to do any fancy dances to illicit the compliment.

Honeymooners!

Hi you friends - Thanks to everyone for the sweet wishes re: Bore and Me! And thanks for all the contest ideas - This is the best one yet - http://www.runawaybrideandgroom.com/

We would be the best Honeymoon Testers ever because we REALLY LIKE LEISURE. If only I could make a hologram of BV for the video - The deadline is too soon - and I'm not quite ready to do the asking.

His Birthday is June 6, so I'm thinking that might be the perfecto question popping day... We're also planning a trip up to Syracuse in early May - but that trip is centered around a casino, and I want to ask in a moment of maximum health! I don't want him to associate our love with roulette or plinko!

Wild!

BV and I had a Super Date on Saturday! We spent the day mixing our rock album in NJ then headed to Brooklyn for dinner.

On our way, we discovered a strange place between Brooklyn and NJ where neither of us had ever set foot - Staten Island!

To embrace love and newness (and because we were so hungry we couldn't bare to cross another bridge) we decided to look no further to find the romantic restaurant of our dreams!

It was impossible for me to not get the Wild Boar Sausage in honor of my date. It might be equally impossible for me to not serve Wild Bore at my wedding. How can I resist?

Hopefully he'll say yes!

No Coke is Good Coke...Every Coke is the BEST!

Sadly, I had to give it up in January 2010 because it compromised the integrity of my favorite tooth (can't take chances on crooked dentists - gotta save up for florists and photographers!)

Last Night I faced the biggest not having a Coke challenge to date. I was doing yacht work on a particularly Choppy East River. Drunk groomsmen were falling over, and I almost threw up on every one of them! What's the best remedy for sea sickness and nerves? Coke!

But for maximum self betterment, I didn't even have a sip. I drank water and looked at the horizon line instead. Not nearly as delicious, but not bad - eh? Sticking to my guns will make me a better life partner to BV.

Hopefully, I will win this Herbasway Beauty Drink Gift Basket http://bionic-beauty.com/giveaway-win-herbasway-beauty-drink-basket/ Maybe this bionic drink is the Coke alternative I've been waiting for!

The Cuse!

For those of you who don't know - I've known BV since the 90's - Sheesh. When we went to Syracuse, we didn't use the internet because it barely existed! And we didn't go to basketball games because ... we were too busy not using the internet?

Now a days we have lots of school spirit and were bummed when Syracuse lost to stupid Butler last night. BV said it was a good game - I love how he always finds a bright side!

Two of my good friends have been proposed to on trips back to the 'Cuse. Maybe BV will be a third!! But should I wait for an entirely new basketball season to start?

Relaxo Boro!

My most favorite things about Boro? He is Callllm like a lamb and relaxing like a day at the spa. There's only one thing we like to do better than working hard, and that's chilling out. So - I'm going to try to win us a little get-a-way.

http://www.spaweekblog.com/tag/travel-giveaways/

Maybe after a weekend at Canyon Ranch - I'll be ready to do some major questioning. Did I mention that I already have the ring?

Can't Wait!

Tonight will be my last night in the Study, and I can't wait to see boro! We have a date for Saturday and I want to get lots of beauty sleep before then. Just in case - here's a link my cousin sent called looking great on zero sleep

http://www.webmd.com/skin-beauty/features/look-great-on-zero-sleep?ecd=wnl_slw_031810

Wish I didn't have to work friday night, but I have to save up lots of cash for bus rides out to the furthest reaches of NJ to see BV.

I hope he's been getting my post cards. In the mean time, I want to send him another love song. Any suggestions love songs that he won't be able to resist?

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Not for walking!

My friend Sara left her boots at my house when she came to visit me earlier in March. They are super sexy and just my size! I made plans with BV to go out on a fancy date starring dinner, dancing and sara's boots. Unfortunately - rocking, sleeping and hot dogs keep getting in the way. And now the weather is getting warmer - boot wearing time is running out!

For today's betterment exercise, I'm going to make a date and not let anything get in the way of me and BV and boots!

Then - I'll enter this jewelled bridal shoe contest!

Letter Writing Campaign

I have started a phase 2 Boro letter writing campaign while I am stuck in this sleep study. I'll make and send him a post card every day til I see him again.

I started phase 1 back in January, when I was away for a month - I'm pretty sure I won him over then, but a follow up couldn't hurt.

To find my best self today, I'm going to take a class called Hip Hop Hell!

That will take me another step closer to popping the question. To prepare: I'm going to try to win us some sophisticated cookware -http://www.getmarried.com/promotions/kohls-wedding-wishes/

boris

I have entered myself into a sleep study this week. They only let me sleep for four hours a night, so I have lots of time to count all of the ways that I Heart Boro! I'll use every waking minute - he is a catalog of wonders.

Back in January - At the same moment I realized that boris was the best one ever and that all I ever wanted to do is hang out with him because he makes everything so much more awesome - I heard the most beautiful song on the radio.

I emailed the song to him with no note, hoping he'd think it was so beautiful too and that he'd get the idea that I was totally into him! This is the video for that beautiful song "Lay and Love" by Bonnie Prince Billy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jx5Giwpz0v4
